Army Ladies storm into Women’s FA Cup final with five-star win over Samartex

Army Ladies powered into the final of the 2025/26 Ghana Women’s FA Cup with a dominant 5-1 victory over FC Samartex Ladies at the Cape Coast Stadium on Saturday.

The scoreline reflected a ruthless second-half display, as Army Ladies struck four times after the break to pull away from a contest that had briefly been level.

Alamisi Atakaga gave Army the lead in the 39th minute to cap a controlled first-half performance, sending her side into the break with a narrow advantage. Samartex, appearing in their first semi-final, responded immediately after halftime when Ibinabo Alex Georgewill equalised in the 60th minute to revive hopes of an upset.

However, Army Ladies responded emphatically. Zinatu Alhassan restored their lead just two minutes later, swinging momentum firmly back in their favour. Samartex were then handed a lifeline with a penalty opportunity, but failed to convert, a miss that proved decisive.

Army Ladies capitalised on that setback and took full control in the closing stages. Linda Achiaa extended the lead in the 80th minute before Esther Asamoah Yiadom added a fourth five minutes later to put the result beyond doubt. Afia Boaduwa Twumwaa completed the rout deep into stoppage time, sealing an emphatic victory.

The result sends Army Ladies into another FA Cup final, where they will face the winner of the second semi-final between Hasaacas Ladies and Jonina Ladies.

It marks a return to familiar territory for Army Ladies, who last lifted the trophy in the 2022/23 season. With attacking efficiency and experience on full display, they will head into the final aiming to reclaim the title.
